Comox Valley Business Network

May 27, 2025 by Leif Jason

We currently meet every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30am at Bayside Bistro, across from Driftwood mall, in Courtenay.

Our members are non-competing Comox Valley businesses ranging from individual entrepreneurs and small businesses to franchisees. Our goal is to help and support each other’s businesses through referrals and sharing knowledge and ideas.

The success and effectiveness of any referral group is largely dependent on the active participation of all its members, therefore regular and consistent attendance at our weekly meetings is a key responsibility. Prospective members are invited to attend 2 FREE meetings to try out the group.

Membership fees are $120 per year, and are due on the anniversary of the member’s joining of the group. Membership fees are used throughout the year for group promotion, events, fundraisers and to sponsor local charities. Annually, the CVBN chooses a local charity or community group to whom the group will contribute financial support throughout the year. Throughout the year, the CVBN organizes a number of fun events for the group members to enjoy, including a mixer, a Christmas party and a summer BBQ.

Make It Zone

September 1, 2024 by Devon Jason

To describe them simply, makerspaces are community centers with tools. Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone. These spaces can take the form of loosely-organized individuals sharing space and tools, for-profit companies, non-profit corporations, organizations affiliated with or hosted within schools, universities or libraries, and more. All are united in the purpose of providing access to equipment, community, and education, and all are unique in exactly how they are arranged to fit the purposes of the community they serve.
