Comox Valley’s first hybrid event, pop-up and coworking space opens in converted flooring warehouse

Courtenay, BC - The Valley’s first ever hybrid event and coworking space, 4 Corners Studios, has opened its doors across from Tin Town. The building, once used as a flooring warehouse and storefront, has been transformed into a functional and finely curated environment with a modern, artful aesthetic.

Co-owners Marc Gerrard and Nick Redway are Comox Valley dads with a passion for community and music. They developed 4 Corners as a gathering place for locals and visitors to hold workshops, meetings, art shows, and private events. The name, 4 Corners, is reminiscent of the four functions the space supports: coworking, events, pop-ups, and a makerspace.

The events corner, with its high ceilings and windowed roll-up garage door, provides enough seating for 50. The makerspace corner is equipped with gear and ideal lighting for photographers or videographers. The coworking corner, with a private meeting room, currently seats ten and is stocked with unlimited coffee. The pop-up corner is 180 square feet with a changing room and street-level entry.

“The possibilities are endless,” says Marc. “The space really lends itself to interpretation.”

Helen Utsal agrees. The Courtenay artist and co-founder of Art Alchemy Studio notes that there are limited options for displaying local art in town. “It will be fantastic to have a good local art venue in the Valley... right now the Comox airport is really the only venue for bigger art. 4 Corners has ample wall space and the right kind of lighting to showcase paintings and other art mediums.”

Gerrard and Redway are open to collaboration with local organizations. “We particularly want to partner with local event planners, as well as provide the space for non-profit fundraising and community initiatives,” says Nick.

To partner with the space, contact Marc at 604-928-2481 or stop by to view the space Monday to Friday from 9-5 at 2441 Cousins Avenue, Courtenay BC.
